The signing of the subsidy contracts marks the start of the implementation of 13 projects approved under the Call for Services of General Interest within the Territorial Strategy of the Interreg VI-A IPA Bulgaria–Serbia Programme 2021–2027. The total value of the funding exceeds € 8.1 million.
The projects are designed to improve the accessibility and quality of services of general interest across the cross-border region through joint solutions developed and implemented by partners from Bulgaria and Serbia.
They will introduce new approaches in areas such as healthcare, social services, education, waste management, energy efficiency, urban environment and access to public services. Investments will support both the modernisation of infrastructure and the deployment of digital technologies and new models for public service delivery.
The planned activities cover a broad range of services of general interest, including healthcare, social and educational services, waste management, energy efficiency, public spaces, employment support and access to information. The projects will invest in infrastructure modernisation, digital solutions, mobile services, electric vehicles, renewable energy systems and other modern technologies designed to strengthen the public sector.
In addition to infrastructure investments, the projects include the development of joint methodologies, procedures, digital platforms, training activities and practical tools that will support the sustainable delivery of services beyond the lifetime of the projects.
Through these projects, the Programme supports the development and implementation of modern solutions that will make public services more accessible, more efficient and better aligned with the needs of people living on both sides of the border.
